Feelings with estar & tener

For temporary feelings, Spanish uses estar + adjective (estoy cansado — I'm tired). But many physical sensations use tener + noun: tengo hambre (I'm hungry, literally 'I have hunger'), tengo miedo (I'm afraid), tengo sueño (I'm sleepy).
